Chrissy's Story
Chrissy grew up in Beaver county, where her love for family, animals and the outdoors was concreted at an early age. She attended Beaver County Christian School from kindergarten through graduation. While she participated in school sports, her primary focus was riding and competing in everting. Her spare time was spent working at the barn, where the discipline and hours required for the sport shaped her strong work ethic and resiliency.

After high school graduation, Chrissy attended Fairmont State University, graduating in 2007 with a clear goal: to build a life dedicated to the care and well-being of animals. Beginning her career in small animal practice, Chrissy worked as a small animal technician for Rainbow Veterinary Hospital, Kolehmainen Veterinary Clinic, then moving to Center Animal Clinic in 2018 where she thrived in her role as a surgical technician. In these roles, she developed an appreciation for the complexity and individuality of every client and patient she encountered. The combination of her professional skill-set, and caring personality created a talent for meeting their needs.
In 2024 Chrissy joined North Country Equine allowing her professional skills and personal love for horses to intersect. As an avid rider, Chrissy understands the powerful bond between the horse and owner - an understanding that fuels her commitment to compassionate, detail-oriented care. Whether assisting in procedures and surgeries, monitoring anesthesia, or communicating with our clients, she approaches each responsibility with focus, empathy, and a drive to continually improve. She is often responsible for follow- up appointments, serving as an extension of Dr. Mel and enhancing North Country Equine's commitment to continuity of care. Inspired by curiosity, dedication, and a genuine love for horses, she is currently pursuing her Veterinary Technician Specialist certification (VTS), This ambitious endeavor involves 5000 hours of advanced equine specific training. This achievement will serve to enhance her own knowledge, set her apart within her field, and provide superior nursing care to our equine patients.
Now living in Ohio, she enjoys spending time outdoors on her hobby farm with her husband and two children. She continues to actively compete in everting, now sharing the experience and passion for the sport with her daughter and son. From her own personal household of pets and horses to those she encounters on our clients' farms - her life is filled with animals of all kinds - each one reinforcing her belief and dedication that animals are at the heart of our homes and family.
